About Us

Children’s birthday parties are just the worst for non-recyclable rubbish! We didn’t want to be part of that, and wanted our children’s birthdays to be enjoyable experiences with positive messages about our relationship with the earth. So we looked at the options, steering away from supermarkets, plastic and playcentres.

Sometimes, just taking time out from thinking, ‘I’m doing my bit’ allows us to then ask, ‘what more can we do?’ Green apples and elephants aim is to encourage people to be imaginative in their approach to celebrations, to make ethical choices in their planning, and to take time to look at the alternatives available. It may only seem like one plastic coated paper plate at the time, but when it’s still there in the landfill site years down the line, that’s the time to re-evaluate.

The decisions that we make now impact on the lives of our children. I know that people bang on about this, but there’s no escaping it! No one person will change the world tomorrow, but, one step at a time is a great start. So why not be part of the solution?
